Baby Cora’s Blanket

Just started a new project – a yellow baby blanket for a friend’s new baby!

Keep reading for pattern.

I’ve never attempted a baby blanket and didn’t actually look to see what a standard baby blanket size is – hopefully the size works! I also have zero hands on experiences with baby blankets so have nothing to draw from. (Good luck Cora!

I’ve casted on until it ‘felt good’ and will be knitting until I run out of yarn on the 1lb ball I’ve bought.

I picked the Basket Weave 1 pattern because it looks impressive but is easy to knit! The pattern repeats for 12 rows, easy to keep count, easy to recover if you mess up. I did have to use a counter to keep track, but still found it easy to put down and resume days later.

Basket Weave 1: work in multiple of 6 + 2 sts, +1 edge st on each side. 1st (right side of work) and 7th rows: Knit all sts. 2nd and 8th rows: Purl all sts. 3rd and 5th rows: K1 (edge), *K2, P4*; repeat from * to * to last 3 sts, K2, then K1 (edge). 4th, 6th, 10th, and 12th rows: Work each st in the manner that is presents. 9th and 11th rows: K1 (edge), *P3, K2, P1*; repeat from * to * to last 3 sts, P2, then K1 (edge). These last 12 rows form pattern.
